Examples of my work

Dashboard I developed for web analytics.

The above dashboard was developed to help track the efforts of our Communications team. Prior to my employment, we had only a very basic understanding of the number of hits our website received, but couldn't track trends and patterns between data.

The dashboard takes data to the level of the link on the page and shows relationships between things like social network campaigns, popular posts with links and even correlations between outside campaigns like MailChimp mailings.
SharePoint 2010 and 2013
I have content management experience working with Microsoft Sharepoint versions 2010 and 2013. Kentucky Interactive is our Sharepoint vendor, so they do the heavy lifting server-side, but I have experience managing content including working with other people's HTML code, creating tables, managing lists and other sharepoint tasks.

Basic HTML and ability to change existing code
Through the years I've worked with HTML frequently. I've coded basic pages in HTML without a graphical interface. Later I did a little work in DreamWeaver. Most recently I've used WordPress.org, Blogger, and Wix which have beautiful editors which don't require too much coding... but I have used the HTML view to clean up the code when editing software doesn't accomplish my goals.

Even in this page, I've used HTML to embed video from Vimeo and YouTube, changing the code on the YouTube videos to resize the players to match the Vimeo players.

Google Analytics
I have created Dashboards within Google Analytics to track page views for each section of our website. I've worked with Kentucky Interactive to deploy tracking code on our site which allows us to track which parts of our site are most frequented, and the data I've generated is currently being used to redesign our website.

Google Tag Manager
In addition to Google Analytics, I've worked in Google Tag manager to track download events on our website. This software allows us to see how many downloads we have each month.

Design of and data analysis of surveys.
To plan outreach and make our efforts more effective, I helped us implement surveys following on-location programs. Additionally, I weekly send out surveys for visitors to our office and use their contact information to bolster our contact database within MailChimp. We analyze survey data to try and refine our member outreach programs.

Ordering Computer Hardware, Installing & Building Computers
I am a hobby tinkerer. I enjoy building computers for myself, my family and my friends. I also spend a fair amount of time troubleshooting, repairing and upgrading for my family as well. As such, even though my experience has been very Apple-centric the past 10 years, I've kept up with each major Windows release. Troubleshooting has included virus removal, OS reinstallations, hardware diagnosis with repair or replacement, and data recovery. I also work to optimize their user experience installing plugins to prevent issues from Malware, Spyware and Virus attacks.

Event Management, Surveying & Analytics
As the go-to tech geek at work, I found a service to automate something we had been doing within our call centers. In the summer, KRS offers a retirement preparedness program. Registration was done by calling our call centers, then an operator would manually take the information and send it to the event coordinator. I found a service which not only let us put that registration online (completely eliminating the extra call burden to our call centers), but it also let us issue tickets so we could check people in using iPads and phones, and it gave us analytics for attendance.  As an added bonus, we collected email addresses for a few thousand members to bolster our communication efforts.

Original Graphic Design Work
I regularly do graphic design work for KRS. My work includes videography, photography, basic print publications, and graphics for web. Here are some graphics we use regularly on our social networks to accompany posts. Data shows social posts with relevant images get 94% more views. We measure engagement as well as audience size.

2016 KAGC Web-Based Media Award Winner
The web is media rich. Many Communications departments are print heavy and slow to adapt. I received the Award of Excellence AND the Award of Merit for my work this year from KAGC, the Kentucky Association of Government Communicators.

Additionally, our agency was mentioned by CEM (Customer Experience Management) for an outstanding use of YouTube, something I created and solely operate.

October 28th I've been asked by KAGC to be one of the keynote speakers for their annual fall conference on the topic of video creation.
